Snakes, often worshipped by pagans, fought for prominence with St. Patrick, a bishop, who arrived in Ireland to spread Christianity. Standing on a hill, St. Patrick drove the serpents, one by one, over the edge, using only his wooden staff, into the sea below. All but one old snake was banished. With cunning, St. Patrick challenged the snake to enter a box made just for him. The snake refused claiming it was too small. Debating back and forth, the snake finally wanted to prove he was right and entered the box. Quickly, St. Patrick slammed the lid and cast the box into the sea, and to this day, no snakes exist in Ireland. So, in honor of St. Patrick's Day, enjoy this chocolate snake, a symbol of the legend of St. Patrick.
